Can a Doctor's Office Have Smart Technology?

June 30, 2022 By Webmaster

Can a Doctor’s Office Have Smart Technology?

As the world moves forward in its technological advancement, people, buildings, and businesses that don’t adapt fall behind. That begs the question, can somewhere like a doctor’s office have smart technology? Let’s find the answer.

Smart Technology’s Purpose

Smart technology has been advancing at breakneck speed. While, once, these types of software may have struggled to fulfill their intended purpose, programs are continually getting better at doing what we need them to. In a smarthome, there’s technology integrated to ease the day-to-day lives and organization of its occupants. The same can be said for many types of business offices. However, can you put this type of technology into a doctor’s office to make treating patients easier?

Complying with Patient Confidentiality

Patient confidentiality is where things get sticky with smart technology. Because most smart technology is made by big companies that love collecting data and selling it to the highest bidder, much of it would be off-limits to a doctor’s office. A smart intercom that makes communicating with the kids on the second floor of your house would be a huge breach of privacy if placed in a doctor’s office. Any information given during an appointment could be recorded and parsed by an AI, then sold.

Smart Technology in a Doctor’s Office

However, this pitfall belongs solely to the most popular smart technology. There are applications and programs made specifically for places that require discretion and confidentiality. Many of them are especially for doctors’ offices.

One such example is an automated note-taking software. After getting your patient’s permission, you can activate this software and allow it to take notes for you. The software will use the mic on your office laptop or tablet and jot down the important parts of your patient’s statements for you. This allows you to focus more on listening than on typing – which is important for building a relationship with your patient.

There’s nothing worse than going to your doctor with a problem only for them to spend all their time staring at the computer and typing. They may be putting down what you’re saying word for word, but it feels like they’re not really there. Automated note-taking allows you to be fully present and engage with your patient without worrying about putting it all down on ‘paper.’

Luxury Doctor’s Office Design

Your doctor’s office may be limited in what smart technology it can implement. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have luxury. There’s plenty more to a luxury medical office design than just fancy intercoms and voice-controlled music. Give us a call at Heidan Construction if you’re looking to remodel or build a new medical office. We look forward to updating your workspace so that you feel like you’re working from 2022 instead of 2000.

3 Great Features of Custom Houses That No One Talks About

3 Great Features of Custom Houses That No One Talks About

When talking about custom homes, people tend to focus on things like appearance and technology. Does your home have the latest in smart-fridge appliances? Do you have heated floors? Well, maybe you do. However, there are 3 really great features of custom houses that go unpraised by the average architecture enthusiast. Heidan Construction is intimately familiar with what makes a custom home great, so we’re here to share.

Custom Floorplan

The first thing may seem obvious but, to many, it isn’t. People get so focused on having the flooring or paint color they want that they forget about the floorplan. All of those little things that get on your nerves in the average house can be completely done away with.

Tired of your toilet being crammed between the tub and sink? Give your bathroom lots of free space and a comfortable margin around the toilet. Is it your pet peeve waking up to sunlight in your eyes? It’s within your power to put your bedroom window on the north wall! Like your kitchen in the front of the house but don’t want the entry to go directly into it? You can position everything exactly how you like it so that, when you come home, you feel truly at home.

Made with a Purpose

If you enjoy planning with detail, you probably have ideas about your custom home design and exactly how it will look. When you plan each room down to where the furniture goes, you can design the actual house to fit each purpose exactly. This is one of the most convenient features of custom houses.

If you plan on having an office space, if you know where your desk is going, you can put your light fixture right overhead. Know how you want your living room arranged? Position your fireplace, light fixtures, or built-in entertainment center right where you need it. You can say goodbye to adapting to houses that weren’t made for you. Instead, unload your moving van and put everything right where it goes. When each area of your home is made with a purpose, you can plan it right down to crafting an alcove for that one decoration you never have a spot for. It all fits like a glove.

The Perfect Fit

Speaking of the perfect fit, one of the features of custom houses means building exactly the amount of space you need. For growing families, you may have to make some guesses regarding future needs. However, if you’re done having kids, or don’t intend to have any to begin with, you won’t need to do much guessing.

You can put in exactly as many bedrooms as you need. Or, you can put in exactly as many rooms as you need for your various hobbies. Therefore, if you’ve got family that likes to visit, you know you need a guest room. Your art studio can be designed to accommodate exactly the supplies and equipment you have or plan to buy. All of those spaces you’ve found yourself dreaming of having for yourself will be right there. You won’t have to constantly think about expanding rooms or moving to a bigger home that has something closer to what you need. You’ll have exactly what you’re after.

If you’re ready to stop moving and settle down somewhere that checks off all the boxes, call us at Heidan Construction. We’re ready to help make your dream home a reality.

Luxury Custom Family Homes in Toronto

Luxury Custom Family Homes in Toronto

Luxury custom homes are a great aspiration for most people. They have so much to offer to professionals, those heading into retirement, and successful young couples making an investment in their future. However, we can’t ignore one of the most common demographics in the country: families! When you have kids, luxury custom family homes are what you’re looking for. And those come with a few extra perks. Here’s what Heidan Construction could do to improve your family’s day-to-day life.

Intercom Systems Enhance Communication

Tired of the headache of yelling up the stairs for your kids to come down for dinner? Want to check if your teen is awake in time to leave? A home intercom system is a fantastic addition in luxury custom family homes. They make communication a breeze. Sure, you could text each other. But who wants to feel tied to their cellphone even in their own home? Plus, sometimes text notifications go unheard. Speaking directly through the intercom means contacting each other from anywhere in the home, at any time, without going unnoticed.

Not only does this improve communication, it also lowers stress. Did you know that households with a lot of yelling have higher stress levels? This doesn’t just apply to households where anger is the source of the raised voices. Humans just naturally get tense when people are yelling back and forth. Release that tension with an intercom.

High Quality Security Improves Safety

While no one wants to have their belongings stolen, there’s a bigger concern with potential break-ins: safety. Break-ins can be extremely dangerous to anyone in the house when it occurs. Most robbers aren’t there to hurt people, but fear and adrenaline can lead to irreversible harm.

If you’re going to invest in a luxury home, investing in a high quality security system is a must. Your home isn’t just attractive to you; it’s also attractive to those looking for a quick buck.

Save Time with Remote Controls

Running a household and caring for a family is a lot of work. If your schedule is full and you’re tired of details falling through the cracks, you’ll benefit from smart-home controls. Many parts of the home can easily be controlled remotely these days. With an app on your smart device, you can control:

  • The home thermostat
  • Window blinds in any room of the house
  • Your security system, including alarms and cameras
  • The locks on your exterior doors
  • Many entertainment devices, such as wired-in home speaker systems

Say goodbye to leaving the house and wondering if you turned the alarm on. Adjust the thermostat on your way back from summer vacation so that your luxury custom family home is cool when you arrive. Unlock the front door for your sister so she can check on the dog while you and the kids are away for a retreat.

Custom Homes for Sports Enthusiasts and Athletes

May 31, 2022 By Webmaster

Custom Homes for Sports Enthusiasts and Athletes

Buying a custom home is a fantastic experience. In the end, you get everything you need. After all, it’s designed just for you! However, when looking at custom home advertisements, they’re always catering to the average professional. What about those of us who prefer a life of activity over sitting in an office? Sports enthusiasts and professional athletes need look no further than Toronto’s leading construction company, Heidan Construction, to find custom homes they love. Let’s take a look at what “custom home” can mean for someone like you.

Amenities for Activity

For those who just enjoy a bit of activity in their daily lives, there are amenities that support that. For example, an indoor or outdoor pool is a great way to relax and stay active. Swimming is one of the most underestimated forms of exercise. Taking a dip in the pool may be relaxing because it takes the edge off of gravity, but it also works every muscle in your body.

Indoor pools are great for year-round use, privacy, and ease of upkeep. They also offer the opportunity to install a pool heater. Outdoor pools, however, are more seasonal, require a bit more upkeep, and are less private. However, they come with the benefit of letting you relax in the sun or take a dip in the moonlight. If you enjoy being outdoors, an outdoor pool might be the better option.

Indoor Courts

Custom homes for athletes bring comfort to games often played outdoors or at the gym. Enjoy a nice game of racketball? How about a game of basketball with the familiar squeak of the wooden court flooring under your shoes? Trade in outdoor, paved courts for a private basketball court attached to your home.

Without the need for high tech scoreboards and bleachers, indoor basketball or racketball courts aren’t actually hard to make. The most expensive part of them is the space they occupy. If you want an indoor court that you can use at any time of year with comfort, you can have it. If money is no object, you can even opt for those fancy accessories like the electronic scoreboard!

Indoor Gym and Luxury Bathroom

Leisure and games are a favorite to many. But, they’re not the only way to stay active. If spending some time each day lifting weights or running in comfort is what keeps you feeling good, an indoor gym is exactly what you need.

Anyone can throw a treadmill and some dumbbells into a spare bedroom. But, can they create an extension of their home that feels just like their own private gym? If you’re working with Heidan Construction, you can.

Not only can you cancel your gym membership and remove the commute from your schedule, you can do it in luxury. After all, an in-home gym isn’t half as great if the gym bathroom is as oppressive as a public one. Instead, attach a luxury on-suite to your personal gym. Sweat it out in a built-in sauna. Refresh yourself in an open-concept shower with multiple showerheads and a bench to recover on. Relax those tense muscles in a soaker tub. There’s no wrong way to feel luxurious after working out.

Remodeling an Old Office Building

Remodeling an Old Office Building

Office building designs have changed over the years as office employees’ needs have changed and evolved with the times. These changes go hand in hand with technological advancements, workplace standards changing, and more. Therefore, if you have an old office building, remodeling may just be in the cards for you. If so, Heidan Construction is here to help. Here are just some of the many ways you can improve your office and its performance with a remodel.

Boost Morale by Bringing in Nature

One of the most important parts of creating an effective and efficient work environment is ensuring employee morale is maintained. Employees are everything to a company. Without them, the company has nothing. Therefore, ensuring the mental health and happiness of employees is met is paramount.

Nothing is better for employee morale and mental health than bringing in a touch of nature. Sitting inside under fluorescent lights all day is extremely depressing. However, the same job can be a pleasure to do if the work space gets lots of natural light and nature views.

During your office building remodel, opt for installing some large new windows. The bright daylight pouring in will lower electric light costs, improve mental health of employees, and make working for you a more enjoyable experience.

Introduce Integrated Standing Desks

While standing desks aren’t for everyone, those who enjoy them can gain a lot from them. Sitting from morning until night is extremely bad for the spine – one of the human body’s weakest links. Putting in integrated standing desks that can be adjusted from sitting to standing – then back again – at any time of the workday puts comfort and physical health at the forefront of company priorities.

Those who prefer to sit can continue working as usual. However, those who need a bit of variety to prevent stiffness, joint pain, or back pain can spend some time standing without having to move to a laptop or commit to a standing desk 100% of the time.

Expand to Meet Space Needs

As a company ages, it naturally expands to allow for growth. Therefore, your building needs to expand as well. If you’re not buying or building additional offices to accommodate new employees, your staff is growing more crowded by the year.

Remodeling an old office building means an opportunity to give employees back some of that space that’s been infringed on over the years of collecting new hires.

Expand with a second floor, add on new rooms for meetings or recently created departments, and create new offices for higher level employees to work with privacy.

Rebrand with Modern Design

One of the best parts of working with Heidan to remodel an old office building is that we specialize in modern design. Anyone can build a bland strip-mall office space. We offer something unique and valuable: designs that speak about your brand without words. Let us design a new office-front for you that compliments your brand and the demographic you’re trying to reach. We know good design can make a world of difference and we want to make that difference for you.

Renovate an Outdated Medical Clinic

Renovate an Outdated Medical Clinic

Medical clinics are one of the most important buildings to keep up-to-date in terms of design. With every passing year, technology advances and brings new standards to medical facilities. Therefore, if you haven’t renovated your medical clinic in the past 10-20 years, it’s due for an update. Heidan Construction is the #1 choice to renovate medical clinics in Toronto. Let’s talk about why that is and how we can help your clinic make a comeback.

#1 to Renovate Medical Clinics

What is it that makes Heidan Construction the best choice for renovating medical clinics in Toronto? For one thing, we have a long track record with happy clinic owners who have hired us to build their medical offices for them. Additionally, we offer something many construction companies don’t: high class, modern designs.

While you can get a new building from almost any construction company, you don’t get the kinds of designs we offer from just anyone. We aren’t just a construction company; we offer design build contracting because our team is made up of skilled construction workers as well as architectural designers. That means you get a clinic that appeals to those with an eye for design – or an eye for class.

Keep Your Building Fresh

Even if an outdated medical clinic has all of the technology updates it needs to keep up with competition, you could still benefit from renovation. Why? To keep your building feeling fresh. We all know what it feels like to step into an old building and feel the age dragging down its quality. Don’t let that be your clinic.

If your clinic has stained or unfortunately colored carpet, chipped paint, cracked tiles, or other signs of age, give it a refresher. Renovate your outdated medical clinic to make it feel like new again, without the price tag of an entirely new office.

Update Fixtures, Appliances, and Technology

While many medical clinics may keep their technology up-to-date in spite of the poor aesthetic aging, many others won’t. Modern computers mean a need for modern in-house computing systems and solutions. Building these solutions into the clinic from the beginning is best. When you renovate an outdated medical clinic with help from Heidan, we can bring you the most modern solutions for your digital records and computing needs.

However, computers aren’t where medical technology ends. If you have medical machinery in your clinic, it may need an update as well. We’ll work together with you to determine which pieces of machinery are still working well. We can replace those that aren’t. New medical technology is designed every year. Make sure you’re offering your patients the best care possible.

Keep Your Clinic Hygienic

Finally, we can’t ignore the hygiene benefits of renovating an outdated medical clinic. While deep cleaning is also effective, a boost in hygiene is simply a natural side effect of renovating. Bacteria on walls becomes trapped and killed by a new coat of paint. Broken tiles that allow for mold and bacteria growth get replaced by watertight tiles that can be properly cleaned. These are just a couple of the benefits of removing the old and bringing in the new.

Call us today if you’re interested in bringing your medical clinic into the 21st century where it belongs.
