What Psychology Says About Your Medical Office Interior

April 20, 2019 By Webmaster

What Psychology Says About Your Medical Office Interior

The amount of things a person only processes on a subconscious level is astounding. Our brains work overtime to process all of the smallest things going on around us. It’s because of this quick thinking that we get impressions from even the smallest things. It’s what gives us our ‘sixth sense’ so to speak – our intuition. Our intuition is just our brain processing things we don’t notice on a conscious level, and trying to warn us about them. When designing a medical office where people will be getting treatment of one kind or another, it’s important to keep psychology in mind. Let’s see some of the design aspects that make a difference to clientele.

Color Choices

One of the first things to leave an impression on someone due to subconscious processing is color. The psychology of color is a well-known topic by now due to its pervasiveness. Our minds associate different colors with different feelings and events.

While there are, of course, exceptions, most people are affected in a similar way. For instance, the reason red, orange, and yellow are considered warm colors is entirely based on our associations. They remind us of things like fire or the glow of hot metal. For the same reason, blue, green, and purple are associated with the cold. Consider ice, water, and the purple tint to your lips when you’re too cold.

Just the same, these colors can have emotional associations too. This is why it’s important to keep paint and decor colors in mind when designing a medical office interior. Colors like red or orange can remind people of heat, anger, or emergencies. They’ll have your clients feeling anxious to get their appointment over with. Blue, on the other hand, can leave people feeling cold, or like they’re in a place of negativity. This is why we suggest warm, light purples or a light, earthy green for paint or decor. These colors are usually calming and don’t float too far toward either extreme which makes them perfect for a medical office.

Decor Shapes

Something you might not have heard of is the way shape also affects people on a psychological level. Rounded edges and bubbly shapes are more comforting and safe than sharp shapes or squares edges. Consider the way a clown paints their face. It’s a known rule that a clown should use round shapes to outline their mouth or eyes to appear friendly. If you think about the kind of clowns used as villains, they tend to paint their face with slashes of color or with pointed shapes. These shapes are known to the psyche as dangerous shapes, perhaps due to their resemblance to weapons. The exact reasons aren’t fully understood, but we can make our guesses based on statistical facts.

The facts are that people are more comfortable around soft or rounded decor. So when deciding on a painting for your medical office, or what kind of vase to buy, keep this in mind.

Custom Home Design Options You Should Know Of

Custom Home Design Options You Should Know Of

When people go into buying a custom home, they tend to have an idea of what they want in mind. However, that idea is usually based much on what they’ve already seen. They just put their own personal spin on the things they know. But what if we told you that there’s more to custom home building than what you’ve seen? Cookie-cutter houses have little that’s unique about them. Therefore, we want to inform you of the things you could have when letting Heidan build for you.

Transitional Homes

If you’ve never heard of transitional homes, you’re in for a real treat. Transitional homes are the perfect blend between tradition and modernism. With a cozy and standard exterior, these homes give you all of the amenities behind their walls. Fitted with modern technology and design, they’re great for people who enjoy architectural advancements without wanting to stick out. The traditional exterior will let you fit in with your neighbors while your interior is more enviable.

Open Concept

Something more and more people have grown to appreciate in recent years is open concept design. Much different from your standard suburban house, open concept breaks down barriers – literally. Instead of having walls all throughout the house, open concept makes your home have a little more breathing room. You can make dinner in the kitchen with a clear view of the living room. Bathrooms attached to the master bedroom are often only separated with a small divider rather than a wall. Some are covered with large, slidable barn-style doors. Stairways will be lined with railings or glass and not walled in.

The whole goal of open concept design is to make a home feel like one living space rather than many living spaces glued together. Open concept design makes cleaning, socializing, and relaxing easier than ever. Bring up open concept when you talk to us about custom home design and we’ll be glad to incorporate that into the plans.

Extra Suite

Something that many people find use in but many don’t consider as an option is an extra suite. These are often called ‘nanny suites’ but can be used for a number of things. The overall concept is having an area of the house with its own entrance, bedroom, bathroom, leisure space, and kitchenette. This will usually be situated on the bottom floor of a split-level house but can be fit into many different home designs.

Having an extra suite can be an advantage in a number of ways. Some of the ways you can use this to your advantage are:

  • A nanny suite. As the colloquial name implies, this suite is great for housing a live-in nanny if you need someone to care for your children much of the day. It not only gives your nanny a private space to host visitors and keep their belongings, it also gives you breathing room. Sharing your home with a stranger can be a hairy affair, but having separate spaces makes breathing a little easier.
  • A place for parents. Many a couple ends up housing their parents in their old age. Sometimes a parent will end up widowed or in need of occasional assistance with daily living. Instead of sending them to a retirement home, letting a parent live in an extra suite can be a huge burden off both of your shoulders. It’s also nice to have family around.
  • A guest space. Extra suites make fantastic guest spaces. When hosting extended family or long-time friends, giving them a suite to themselves is a gift to everyone. They can get comfortable in your home and feel as if the space is theirs at the same time. Neither of you will have to worry about anyone infringing on anyone else’s privacy or watching TV too late. It’s a win-win.

Design Your Dental Office with Heidan

Design Your Dental Office with Heidan

Looking to open up a new dental office? Maybe you’re a seasoned professional and this is a new branch to an already flourishing business! Heidan’s got you covered, no matter the case. We know dental offices can be a huge undertaking and that’s why you need experience to handle them properly. We assure you that Heidan Construction’s team of qualified builders and designers will get the job done right. Let’s take a look at the facts!

Experienced and Friendly

One of the most important things when hiring a construction company is hiring for experience and communication. We couldn’t have gotten where we are today without a portfolio of successful builds. And with each new success, we gain more insight and more understanding of what makes a truly fantastic build!

One of the things we’ve learned over nearly twenty years of work is that friendliness truly does matter. We couldn’t have succeeded without forming connections with our clients and listening to their needs. Ensuring that the end product of all of our combined efforts is exactly what our client wanted is the most important part of the process. That’s why we work together with clients to make an efficient, functional, and satisfactory design.

Knowledgeable

What comes along with experience, but that we think deserves to be mentioned by itself, is code knowledge. Building dental and medical offices can be tricky because they’re held to different standards than the average house. Heidan’s team is knowledgeable in the specific codes and building regulations needed to build a dental office successfully. We’ll get your office built and turn-key ready, handling all of the red tape for you.

Dental Needs

We understand that dental offices come with some unique needs. For one thing, this is a workspace that needs to fit machinery and seating while still having room to move around. This is why it’s so important that we understand how to bring functionality into a small space.

There’s more to design than just space, however. Dental offices come with a need for balance in design. For many people, dentist visits are stressful and can cause anxiety. That’s why it’s important to us that your office will be functional and comfortable. Not only should it be designed to remain hygienic and clean, but not to seem overly sterile.

We aim to create a friendly, welcoming space for you, your employees, and your clientele. After all, this building will be representation of your company. As the face of everything you stand for, it needs to be agreeable and easy to work in.

Give us a call or email to let us know you’re interested! We’ll be glad to work with you, creating another successful build and a satisfactory experience.

How Heidan Can Help Design Your Medical Office

March 25, 2019 By Webmaster

How Heidan Can Help Design Your Medical Office

If you’re looking to expand your practice by building another office, or looking to open your very first one, Heidan can help. We have almost 20 years of experience building high-quality homes and offices in Toronto. Putting forward the money for a medical office building can be a huge investment. That’s why we’re here to fulfill your building needs and do it well.

Fully Customized Design

When you plan to build a medical office, you surely have some ideas in mind of how it will look. Maybe you know how you want the waiting room to look. It could also be that you’ve only thought about your personal office. No matter how extensive your plans are for your new medical office, our team will work alongside you to make it exactly how you want it!

Our team is dedicated to helping you design the office of your dreams. We’ll be there every step of the way to ensure the design fits your expectations. We’re not all about appearance though! We’re also experienced with designing efficiently, making your and your staff’s jobs as effortless as possible. Our years of practice have given us the knowledge we need to make the ideal office, all within medical building code.

Turn-Key Construction

Once your design has been fully realized, someone will have to bring it to life. We’re the team for the job! We’ve brought to life countless offices across Toronto and we can do the same to yours.

Arguably one of the best parts about Heidan making your office a reality is that it will be ready to use when we’re finished. Too often, construction companies will leave behind wood, nails, or other debris. We take our professionalism very seriously, and part of that is making buildings ready-to-use. When we’ve finished your medical office, you will be able to put it to use immediately without having to deal with cleanup.

Friendly Team

Something we find great importance in is having a friendly team of designers and builders. Because we’re going to be working with you throughout the entire building process, we ensure our team is made up of friendly people. After all, to be sure that communication between client and team is clear, we need to be approachable and flexible.

Experienced in the Field

Experience in general building and design is incredibly important when hiring for a project like this. Unfortunately, experience building houses doesn’t make a team capable of building a medical office. There are specific laws and guidelines that must be followed when planning something medical. That’s why we’re happy to inform you that Heidan isn’t only experienced in building houses. We’ve been successfully building medical offices for nearly two decades and know the codes from front to back. You can rely on us to leave you with a legally sound office of impeccable quality.

Give us a call or email us to learn more about how we can serve you!

Bring Together Tradition and Modernism with a Transitional House

February 19, 2019 By Webmaster

Bring Together Tradition and Modernism with a Transitional House

If you’re looking to have a custom home built, you’re probably coming across all kinds of new terms. One of these that you’ll see frequently is ‘transitional’. But what does it mean? What exactly is a transitional house?

It can actually mean a great many things depending on what contractor you ask. What we at Heidan Construction mean when we say transitional is this: We combine traditional home design with modern home design. The result is a house that blends in well in your neighborhood but has a modern interior. Some people aren’t interested in an aggressively modern exterior in a neighborhood of more traditional homes. Transitional houses are the perfect solution.

Open Concept

One of the key features of a transitional home, according to many, is its open concept. Transitional homes very frequently aim to get rid of the stifling walls found in the average house. Every room being divided can make a house feel cramped and separated. With less dividing walls, you can look from the living room to the kitchen to the dining room with no problem. Communication among occupants is easier and light travels better.

An open concept home is not only more spacious in general, it’s also easier to clean and take care of. With less cracks and corners for dust to collect in, keeping up with housework is a breeze.

Accessible

One because transitional homes are so frequently open concept, that makes them incredibly accessible. Those with mobility struggles will have a much easier time moving around a transitional, open concept home than one with a lot of walls and doorways.

Transitional homes are also light on decor. The smaller amount of objects in a room makes it easier to navigate and easier to keep clean.

Sleek but Cozy

The key to transitional house design is having a combination of curvy and sharp elements. The roundness and angles make a great combination. They bring together masculinity and femininity in a way that looks truly fantastic for anyone. Bringing these two features together leaves you with an interior that feels both sleek and cozy. Combining slick, glass tables with upholstered chairs and couches gives an impression unlike anything else.

This kind of dichotomy is also achievable in the house design itself. Key features such as glass railings on stairs pair well with warm, wood tones and big, glass windows. Bring together carpet and hardwood to give a contrast between two rooms without involving a wall.

Unique

There are truly so many ways to go right with a transitional home. Transitional homes give the designer a license to get personal. There are a million unique combinations that will land you a transitional design. Give us a call at Heidan Construction to discuss transitional home designs. We would love to set up a meeting to start planning!

Let Heidan Help Build the Clinic of Your Dreams

February 19, 2019 By Webmaster

Let Heidan Help Build the Clinic of Your Dreams

Contracting someone to build a new dental or medical office can be quite an undertaking. With the nature of a clinic, it’s important for the job to be done right. You don’t want the company you hire to be cutting corners or it will lead to expensive fixes down the line. Heidan is the right company for the job and we’re here to tell you why we’re confident of it.

Experienced

When hiring someone to do a commercial building job for you, it’s important to get someone experienced. Any clinic you have built will be the face and representation of your company. You need quality that will reflect your brand’s quality.

Heidan Construction has 15 years of experience and a team of seasoned professionals. We’ve been working and honing our skills with project after project. When we get hired for something that takes true craftsmanship, we’re ready.

Knowledgeable

Being experienced in building houses is not the same as being experienced with clinics. Both take an extensive knowledge of general construction, but clinics take more. There are specific regulations and requirements that need to be met for medical buildings. Because we have extensive experience with building clinics and medical offices, we know our way around medical building code.

Building regulations are one thing, but practicality is another. While we help you in designing the office of your dreams, we keep efficiency in mind. Because your clinic will be a foundation for your practice for years to come, it’s important that it’s designed right. That means a floor plan that maximizes space efficiency so that your staff can be their very best.

Thorough

Our team is not only experienced, we’re also thorough. We take our work very seriously and part of that work is cleaning up after ourselves. After all, it’s not you job to deal with the aftermath of construction.

Our goal in building for clients is to review building plans, discuss a plan of action, and then put that plan into action. By the end of the process, all that’s left should be the product you paid for. That’s what we at Heidan Construction are dedicated to delivering. When we’re through with your clinic, you’ll be able to step into a finished building and see nothing left behind in it but potential.

Friendly

As serious as we are about our work, we also find great importance in being friendly. After all, a big part of our job is communicating with clients and each other. A team that works together needs to communicate well if they want their finished product to be made well. Not only that, if we’re to know what we’re doing, we have to be great at communicating with the people who hire us. In the end, it’s you who we’re taking direction from. Your needs are important to us and we can’t consider a project successful if it’s not exactly what was asked for.
